students choose courses to fulfill their Concentration requirements. Students declare their Concentration late in their freshman year. 1 course in Expository Writing. The single course required of all students is Expository Wstudents to cross-register and to participate in special programs. In addition, Harvard students may take courses at MIT.
riting, which is taken in the first year. Students are able to choose to from variety of topics taught by experts in the craft of writing.
0-2 courses in a Foreign Language. Students must demonstrate knowledge of one foreign language by the end of the first year. Some fulfill the requirement by taking language courses at Harvard, while others have proven their proficiency before entering Harvard by scoring a 600 on a College Board language assessment test, earning a 5 on an Advanced Placement language test, or a 7 on an International Baccalaureate Higher Level exam.
6-8 Electives. Students may chose to take classes offered in any field, and most of Harvard's nine professional schools allow
